About SoftAgility

SoftAgility is founded by Matthew Clendening, a software engineer and technical leader with 28+ years of hands-on experience building desktop, web, and cloud applications. His background spans .NET, C++, TypeScript, Azure, and AWS, with deep domain expertise in aerospace mission planning systems, enterprise integration, and multi-tenant SaaS platforms.

Matthew designed and built Beacon, SoftAgility's product analytics platform, from the ground up. It is a production system with 14+ modules, native SDKs for .NET and C++, five-layer tenant isolation, and a full billing system with Stripe integration. Beacon exists because ISVs shipping desktop and server applications deserve the same analytics tools that web companies take for granted.

Matthew's interest in computers started early. His dad, a high school science teacher, would sometimes bring home computers from school on weekends. First a VIC-20, then a TRS-80. His first computer was a TI-99/4A (and a Parsec game cartridge), and he still remembers saving his first program to a cassette tape. A Commodore 64 soon followed, then an early 386 PC. That curiosity never stopped.

Whether through consulting engagements or product development, Matthew is known for rapidly adopting new technologies, delivering pragmatic solutions, and bridging the gap between technical excellence and business outcomes. He holds BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine.
